Statement of Organizational Commitment
Curious Mynds (via our parent company, The Learning Designers) is committed to developing and finding ways for us to reduce the impact of our work on the environment. We recognize that each of us has a carbon footprint, and we can make small and larger steps toward reducing or offsetting that footprint. We have a responsibility to the environment.
Specified Commitments
We have adopted effective waste management strategies by primarily using online documents and reducing printed materials. Anything that must be printed should then be recycled following use. The document should be shredded if the printed material contains confidential or personal information.

Given our use of cloud document creation and storage, and our computers, monitors, tablets, and phones for the work we do, we recognize there is an environmental impact of the technology. Not only is there an impact where we work, but also from the data centres that store our files (battery mining, air conditioning, e-waste, etc.). We commit to being aware and reducing our personal impact by turning off technology when not in use, charging devices only when needed, using energy-saving power bars, and keeping our electronic files clean and up to date, removing old files that no longer need storage.

As we are a 100% remote-based company, we do not have an office space that uses resources, and we do not require employees to commute. This reduces our impact of electricity and transportation emissions. However, each of us has our own spaces where we need to be aware of the environmental impact. Employees should review this checklist, which provides some ideas on reducing their home office impact.

Curious Mynds (â„… The Learning Designers) does not expect a particular dress code. This eliminates the need for work-specific clothing purchases and allows employees to dress for the season and their comfort.
We share our knowledge and commitments on our website to bring awareness and encourage action from our customers, clients, and partners.

We will contribute time and donate money toward local and global organizations that minimize and offset our footprint.
Ongoing Goals
We wish to continue to monitor and measure our company’s impact and work together to find ways to reduce it.
Every June, Curious Mynds (â„… The Learning Designers) will purchase carbon offsets (currently via www.less.ca). The offsets are purchased following a yearly calculation of our impact via the carbon calculator from www.carbonfootprint.com.

We aim to make the Director’s home office as low-impact as possible. The goal is to continue to update materials, as needed, with more environmentally-friendly options.

We hope to build connections and partnerships with Canadian organizations and our local communities to progress environmental objectives.
