Hi there! I’m Shannon (she/her), the heart behind Curious Mynds. If you’re here, chances are you care deeply about your child’s education, and you’re looking for tools that actually work for your homeschool journey.
Let me tell you a little about us.
How it all started
Years ago, my husband and I accidentally stumbled into homeschooling. Our daughter was this incredibly curious, wide-eyed learner who soaked up everything she came across. When it came time to enroll her in traditional school, it just didn’t fit. She was ahead of the curve, and honestly, we craved something different, more flexible, engaging, and meaningful.
With my 20+ years of experience in education and instructional design, we wondered if we could try homeschooling. But as we dove in, I started noticing some glaring gaps and had questions:
Where were all the Canadian resources that celebrated our unique culture and history?
Why was it so tough to find secular materials?
And why did so many resources feel outdated or, honestly, just plain boring?
That’s when the idea for Curious Mynds took root.

A Little About Me
When I’m not working on Curious Mynds, I run an instructional design business, crafting accessible learning experiences for companies and higher education institutions. Education has always been at the heart of what I do.
But life isn’t all work (thankfully). I’m happiest with a book in hand, losing myself in stories that take me far beyond my own little corner of the world. I love wandering outdoors, being on the water, exercising, and watercolour painting. Travel is another big one for me. It’s where curiosity and connection collide. Every trip feels like a reminder of how much there is to learn, see, and experience. And I’m one of those (unapologetic) Disney adults.
These are the things that keep me curious, grounded, and connected to the world.
But, homeschooling is personal to me. It’s about my family and yours. It’s about finding a way to ignite that spark in your kids while giving you the tools and confidence to do it your way.
